Hazánkban sajnos egyre több kutyában fedezik fel a szúnyogok által terjesztett bőr-és szívférgeket, melyek közül a szívféreg csak nagy kockázattal gyógyítható fertőzés.

Mivel a féreglárvákat a szúnyogok terjesztik, csípésük veszélyt jelenthet az emberre is, ezért különösen fontos odafigyelnünk a megelőzésre. Éppen ezért a védekezés megkezdése előtt mindenképpen szükség van egy előzetes
szűrésre, hogy a lárvák, illetve a szívféreg jelenlétét kizárhassuk.

Ezt a vér mikroszkopikus vizsgálatával illetve egy gyorsteszt segítségével rövid időn belül kideríthetjük.

Ha mindkét eredményünk negatív, elkezdhetjük azon szerek használatát, melyek megakadályozzák a felnőtt féreg kifejlődését.
